Libido and ED Peptide Therapy

Why do I have Low Sex Drive?

When we are in our teens and 20’s we are motivated greatly by our hormonal sex drive. Within our dating years and relationships, sex often hold a large space in our lives and occupies our minds. Our bodies are built to desire sexual stimulation in order to procreate and continue the human race.

As we get older, reaching middle age, nature begins to lessen this desire because we are most likely moving away from our childbearing years. That doesn’t mean that we enjoy sex any less, but it may mean that we start to experience lowered libido levels and decreased sex drive.

To many men and women alike this can be disturbing and even depressing. That vigor and excitement we felt as younger people is highly coveted and we don’t want to let that go from our lives.

The great news is that we no longer have to accept a lowered libido!

Bremelanotide (PT-141) Therapy

Bremelanotide also known as PT-141 and Vyleesi has been shown to have a substantial effect on libido, generating sexual arousal in both men and women within minutes of administration.

Benefits Of PT Premelanotide:

  • Results. More women reported moderate or high sexual desire following bremelanotide (Vyleesi) treatment vs. placebo.
  • Among women who attempted sexual intercourse within 24 hours after treatment, significantly more were satisfied with their level of sexual arousal following bremelanotide PT-141, compared with placebo.
  • Effects may be felt up to 12 hours from the time of administration and have been known to last for up to 3 days, diminishing each day.
  • Bremelanotide PT-141 has been shown to have significant results on male test patients, with what is described as “intense” and “frequent” erections lasting between 2-6 hours.
  • For women, sexual arousal has been experienced in a varied range of minutes to weeks
  • Bremelanotide was developed from the peptide hormone Melanotan II
  • Effective in treating sexual dysfunction in men – impotence / erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation
  • Effective in treating sexual dysfunction in women – sexual arousal disorder, generalized hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD)
  • Does not act upon the vascular system
  • Increases sexual desire via the central nervous system

Bremelanotide (Vyleesi/PT 141) was developed from Melanotan II, targeting its aphrodisiac effects. This peptide has been shown to have a substantial effect on libido, generating sexual arousal in both men and women within minutes of administration. It has been shown to be effective in treating erectile dysfunction, even in men who have not responded to other ED treatments, such as Viagra and Cialis and female sexual arousal and orgasmic disorders as well as generalized hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD). The FDA approved bremelanotide under the name Vyleesi in 2019.

This peptide is also able to cross the blood-brain-barrier, bypassing the vascular system and acting at the level of the central nervous system. This property gives bremelanotide PT-141 an advantage over traditional ED drugs, which can decrease blood pressure to dangerous levels.

Trimix

Trimix is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. It is a combination of three active ingredients: alprostadil, papaverine, and phentolamine. Each of these components works to promote blood flow to the penis, helping to achieve and maintain an erection.

Alprostadil is a vasodilator, meaning it dilates the blood vessels and increases blood flow. It is a synthetic form of prostaglandin E1, a naturally occurring hormone that helps relax the smooth muscles and widen the blood vessels in the penis. Alprostadil can be injected directly into the base of the penis or applied as a topical cream or pellet inserted into the urethra.

Papaverine is a smooth muscle relaxant that also promotes vasodilation. It helps to relax the smooth muscles in the blood vessels, allowing increased blood flow to the penis. Papaverine is typically injected into the side of the penis.

Phentolamine is an alpha-blocker that further enhances blood flow by blocking certain receptors in the smooth muscle cells of the blood vessels. By blocking these receptors, phentolamine relaxes the blood vessels and promotes increased blood flow. Phentolamine is usually added to the mixture to counteract the potential side effect of a prolonged erection, known as priapism.

The specific dosages of each component in Trimix can vary depending on the individual’s needs and the prescribing physician’s recommendations. Trimix is typically prepared by a compounding pharmacy and administered using a small needle and syringe.

It is important to note that Trimix should only be used under the supervision of a healthcare professional, as it requires proper training and understanding of the medication’s administration and potential side effects. Common side effects may include pain at the injection site, dizziness, and priapism. If you are experiencing symptoms of ED, it is best to consult with a healthcare provider who can evaluate your condition and discuss appropriate treatment options for you.

Sildenafil citrate

Sildenafil Citrate is a medication commonly used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. It belongs to a class of drugs known as phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors. Sildenafil works by inhibiting the enzyme PDE5, which is responsible for the degradation of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) in the smooth muscle cells of the penis. By inhibiting PDE5, sildenafil helps to increase the levels of cGMP, which promotes smooth muscle relaxation and improved blood flow to the penis, leading to an erection.

Sildenafil citrate is most commonly marketed under the brand name Viagra, although there are also generic versions available. It is usually taken orally in tablet form, typically about 30 minutes to an hour before sexual activity. The effects of sildenafil can last for several hours, but the exact duration varies from person to person.

It is important to note that sildenafil citrate should be taken under the guidance of a healthcare professional, as it may interact with certain medications or have contraindications for individuals with certain medical conditions. Additionally, it is not recommended to take sildenafil citrate with nitrate medications, as the combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure.

Common side effects of sildenafil include headache, facial flushing, nasal congestion, indigestion, and visual disturbances. Rare but more serious side effects may include prolonged erections (priapism), sudden hearing or vision loss, and allergic reactions. If you experience any concerning side effects or have questions about using sildenafil, it is advisable to consult with a healthcare provider for guidance.

Tadalafil

Tadalafil is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men, as well as symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). It belongs to the class of drugs known as phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors, just like sildenafil.

Tadalafil works by inhibiting the enzyme PDE5, which is responsible for the degradation of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) in the smooth muscle cells of the penis. By inhibiting PDE5, tadalafil helps to increase the levels of cGMP, leading to smooth muscle relaxation and improved blood flow to the penis, resulting in an erection.

Tadalafil is marketed under various brand names, with Cialis being the most well-known. It is available in tablet form and is usually taken orally. The recommended dosage of tadalafil varies depending on the individual and the condition being treated. For ED, it is commonly prescribed as a lower-dose daily tablet or a higher-dose tablet taken as needed before sexual activity. The effects of tadalafil can last for up to 36 hours, earning it the nickname “the weekend pill.”

Similarly to sildenafil, tadalafil should be taken under the guidance of a healthcare professional. It may have interactions with certain medications and can have contraindications for individuals with certain medical conditions. It is also important to avoid combining tadalafil with nitrate medications, as this can cause a significant drop in blood pressure.

Common side effects of tadalafil include headache, back pain, muscle aches, nasal congestion, indigestion, and flushing. As with any medication, there is also a risk of rare but more serious side effects, such as priapism (prolonged erection), sudden hearing or vision loss, and allergic reactions. If you experience any concerning side effects or have questions about using tadalafil, it is best to consult with a healthcare provider for guidance.

Vardenafil

Vardenafil is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. It belongs to the class of drugs known as phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors, similar to sildenafil (Viagra) and tadalafil (Cialis).

Vardenafil works by inhibiting the enzyme PDE5, which helps to prevent the degradation of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) in the smooth muscle cells of the penis. By inhibiting PDE5, vardenafil promotes the relaxation of smooth muscles and increases blood flow to the penis, leading to improved erectile function.

Levitra is the most well-known brand name for vardenafil, although generic versions are also available. Vardenafil is usually taken orally in tablet form, with or without food, approximately 30 minutes to an hour before sexual activity. The duration of its effects can vary, typically lasting for several hours.

As with other PDE5 inhibitors, it is essential to use vardenafil under the guidance of a healthcare professional. It may interact with certain medications and have contraindications for individuals with specific medical conditions. Combining vardenafil with nitrate medications should be avoided, as it can cause a significant drop in blood pressure.

Common side effects of vardenafil include headache, flushing, nasal congestion, indigestion, and dizziness. Serious side effects are rare, but they can include priapism (prolonged erection), sudden hearing or vision loss, and allergic reactions. If you experience any concerning side effects or have questions about using vardenafil, it is advisable to consult with a healthcare provider for guidance.
